Once again it’s the new cap and along side it we have the new jobs being released. Raven is the first of the Assassins to be released. Some points on being a Raven is that they are now classed on one of the best tiers of being a DPS class. The board damage and the actual damage he does is far off and he is really much superior, making him one of the must have in a raid. Throughout the guide you would slowly understand why he deals so much damage, I would also explain the number of hits a skill can hit.
Cool Time Charging mechanic – This mechanic only applies more to Chaser as Bringers do not use this mechanic except for their Assassin skills. The cool time charge mechanic means that when you allow a skill to cool down twice the time needed it can accumulate the number of times a skill can be used. At level 1,6,11, it will increase the count by 1.Pros:
For example like Piercing Star 8 seconds to cool down. So a level 6 Piercing Star when allowed to cool down for 16 seconds you will be able to cast it consecutively for 2 times. Making you be able to deal burst damage. The skills that use this mechanic are Piercing Star, Speedy Cut, Rain Drop and Mortal Blow.
- Has some of the best debuffs.
- Board damage is far off what is expected from a Raven.
- Best DPS when compared to every class in Dragon Nest as of now.
- Mana will be a problem should you not have any Sorceress helping you in a nest.
- Hit box for the Raven skills are usually small and need accuracy to hit target.
- Hybrid is not a good choice for Ravens.
Note that only EX version of the Chaser skills will have elemental damage. Except for Rain Drop and Mortal Blow which have no EX are naturally dark and fire element skills. So if you are a Raven just stacking pure dark attack is fine. There is no need to be like the Elestras where they stack both fire and ice.
I can say I am not really confident in the skill build and I will accept criticism for it. I only have a level 34 Chaser in CDN but I do have a Raven but still I am incapable of understanding his skills unlike Bringers. Not sure why but this is the best of what I can build and share with you guys. :)
Skill builds are in hybrid, pure PvE and pure PvP. The following info you see are written in the point of view of a hybrid skill build. Once again like I have said, having a hybrid build will not bring out the best in the class you are using as SP have to be compromised to allow other skills.
As usual like I said the skill build is only used as a guide and there is no need to follow it completely.
Speedy Cut - This skill uses the CTC mechanics though it does not grow good in damage at all. It can just be left at pre-requisite.
Piercing Star – Also uses the CTC mechanics. The piercing effect of the skill is really good and has a freaking long range. In PvP it’s almost half the map, and can hit your opponents. Usually leveled to 11 or 16 to get the three stars and damage. Damage you see on the tool tip is per star.
Dirty Trick - Skill has two stages the throwing dirt which hinders the enemies vision and clicking your Normal Attack button you will leap forward and attack them.
Fan of Edge – One of a skill that has the highest board damage. Throwing it at point blank in front of a large boss will deal all 6 hits to it and the damage is really great. Best at level 11, 16 and 24. Damage on the tool tip is per shuriken, so throwing all 6 deals 6 times the board damage. This skill cannot hit downed targets.
Triple Edge - This skill functions as a few of the escaping skills you have. Throws out 3 knives and pushes your opponent back by a bit. Never get this skill due to SP constraints.
Shadow Hand - Most useless skill ever. Not really sure why anybody will pump SP into this though it’s noted that the super armor break is very high. But it’s still not worth it to level this at all.
Sprint - Acts as a double leap and allows you to maintain air time while being lifted or dodging skills.
Feint – This skill is considered quite a good skill as it’s a life saver. When you are almost dead you will recover 10% of your max HP. When Assassin was released at the start, lot’s of players had wanted to add this due to the cool down reduction but in the end it’s not really very worth it to waste the SP to reduce the cool down. Max level is 7 for the 70 cap and the reduction of cool down is almost by a minute.
Raid - Buffs you and your allies critical damage by 10%. Meaning the critical now allows you to deal 200% but with the buff it can deal 210%. Buff lasts for 300 seconds which is very useful in raids. 8 members dealing critical is almost extra 80% damage.
Tumbling - Tumble a must max skill. Nothing to explain.
Fake Clog - This skill is like the Sorceress Escape skill or Kali Puppet Soul skill. It induces a debuff and enemies within the area will receive critical damage when hit. I have seen mobs being aggro-ed to the barrel in dungeons but it does not say on the tool tip. But I still deduce that it can provoke mobs for a while. Some players do not level this skill to it’s max at all. But as long as you can evade well you can take SP out of this skill and leave it somewhere else.
Aerial Evasion - A must max obvious skill. Nothing to explain here.
Swipe – Leave at pre requisite. It just jams daggers into the mob. Pretty sadistic.
Gore Kick - Left at pre requisite. Just does a kick to knock enemies back.
Circle Gore - Not needed to add at all. Useless skill.
Leap – Not needed to add too.
Smoke - Wake attack of your skill. Must max obviously.

Raven Skill TreeOpen Edge - Level 6. Some players would like this skill and some will not. Frankly I am on the side where I do not like this skill at all. So I only left it at level 6 to get Applause EX and the EX for this skill. Though the skill has relatively short cool down and can be spammed. Best used with Raindrop as this skill pushes back targets and Raindrop can DPS on it. This skill cannot hit downed targets.
Applause - Level 18. A must max skill. this skill has to be aimed correctly to get the extra hit. Your target must not be in the middle of the skill. So as long as they are near or further from the skill you get an extra hit. One hit is 100% of the board damage you see on the tool tip. Therefore getting two hits mean 200% of the damage dealt! The skill also reduces target defence by 10% and it lasts for 10 seconds.
Rake - Level 11. This skill is considered one of your top DPS skill since it can deal up to 10 hits. This is assuming your boss has a big surface area and does not move quickly. But I feel in PvP it’s very useless since your target will be dodging it most of the time. Board damage only shows 1 shuriken so dealing all 10 shurikens means 10 times the damage.
Rain Drop - Level 11. Summons a crow and it will rain shurikens down. It’s roughly about 5m long and 2m wide. Board damage as usual only shows 1 hit. One crow deals up to 8 hits and 3 crows deal up to 24 hits! The skill also uses the CTC mechanism. So getting it to level 11 is the best, if you want to get a skill ring if you cast this skill often it is also fine. Skill is naturally dark in element before your advancement.
Punishment - Level 13. Invincibility frame has been removed from this skill. The skill does 3 hits but 3 hits make up the whole board damage. This skill also reduces defence by 10% for 15 seconds. One would ask now if the two debuffs stack? From what I research no. The debuff will not stack and will be separate on it’s own. So it’s fine to use this skills together.
In PvE debuff is 10% (15 seconds), PvP is 4% (7.5 seconds).
The End – Level 2. The ultimate for all Ravens. It slows your opponent in front of you by 50% and you fly into the air and start shooting down. Total hits of the skill is 35, the first 2 hits (appearance of chains) do not deal any damage the remaining 33 hits does 100% of board damage. As in tool tip shows each shuriken meaning 33 times extra damage should you land all 33 hits. You are also invincible in the air for 2 seconds, you are in the air for more then 2 seconds so it’s just the initial 2 seconds.
Ripper Skill Tree
Shift Blow – Level 1. Just enough to get to Izuna Drop. Punches your opponent 5 times and this skill cannot hit downed targets.
Camouflage - Level 1. Knocks back opponent and launches him/her/it into the air. After tumbling you can press “Right Attack Button” to activate the skill. One notable thing about this skill is it’s cool down. At level 6,11,16 the cool down time is reduced by 2 seconds. Skill does 2 hits and each is 0.5 of board damage.
Blade Runner – Level 1. To get to Izuna Drop. You will dash forward after casting this skill. If there is no target in front of you, animation will end. If there is a target in front of you, you will disappear and re-appear knocking target with you fist and he/she will fall to the ground.
Mortal Blow - Level 6. This skill also uses the CTC mechanism. Why I had opted for level 6 was so that I could throw at least twice of this skill when it’s cool down for at least 36 seconds. Like Rain Drop the skill tool tip only reflect 1 hit of the skill. So 2 times would mean twice the board damage.
But for this skill it deals 2 hits when you cast it. First hit is 0.2 of board damage and second hit is 0.8 of board damage.
Should you not want this skill you can reduce it to level 1 and give the SP to Rake for level 16.
Izuna Drop - Level 11. One of the coolest skill in the Chaser tree in my opinion. I have seen players dropping the whole Ripper tree for a Raven but as the Raven skills technically has higher cool down. I do not want to be stuck without any skills. So this was the level 32 skill I was opting to get as it has high damage and a sort of useful mini buff. This skill is like Rising Storm it sucks your opponent into the air and drops them back down to the ground. What is not said in the toll tip is that you can block up to 2 times while meditating on the floor. I am not sure if boss skills ignore the block buff.
Cripple Punisher - Ultimate for the Raven. There is no need for a dual ultimate for the Raven as the The End skill is enough to wreck havoc. This ultimate has two uses either to attack or to escape. While escaping if I am not wrong you are invincible while running. Skill only lasts for 10 seconds.
Buffs and Passives
Fade - Level 1. This skill is a double edged sword. It allows you to deal an extra percentage of damage but it also allows targets to make you receive the extra percentage of damage. Like level 1 of the skill allows you to deal 10% more of the damage you deal. But the amount of damage you receive is also 10% more. This skill is NOT a party buff, you are the only being buffed by this skill. You will also disappear slightly and in PvE it will remove aggro on you. In PvP your opponent can still see you slightly.
Should you want to have more SP on this skill you would need to remove SP from the Ripper skill tree to give you enough SP to add into the skill.
Receive Edge - Level 1. An extra Aerial Evasion skill though the skill has a higher cool down. Gives you a little bit more air time.
Illusion Step - Level 1. Allows you to run faster another escape skill and while dashing you are invincible for that period.
Burning Call - Level 1. Once more another escape skill, you can press the space bar to activate this skill while casting other skills. Slightly flinches your opponent when you cast this skill.
Access Chain - Level 1. Once again, another escaping skill. Skill has two stages. releasing the chain and pulling you forward. Second one is pressing the “Normal Attack Button” to attack the target.
Dedicate Shadow - I don’t take this skill as usually most mobs deal physical damage. You only recover HP when magical damage is received. Though this buff allows you reduce magical damage taken. But I don;t really like it. Should you want you can remove SP from other skills and add this skill.
Dedicate Crow – Level 4. This skill is one of the best skill while being aside a Dancer. This skill does not over write the Dancer Elf skill and will give you an extra damage on the boss. Gives extra damage while under the buff and lasts for 15 seconds.
Raven Skills
Umbra Field - Level 3. This skill gives constant DPS but I just do not have enough SP to get it higher. Casts a circular field around you and whatever inside the force field will receive damage.
Crooking Dead Fall - Level 7. A skill to must max and it gives real good damage. This skill sucks targets and deals damage to them. The explosion will also lift them up.
Open Edge EX - Level 1. Knock back is a bit more and the skill now becomes a dark element skill.
Applause EX - Level 1. The EX adds an extra hit and lifts opponent up. Skill also becomes a dark element skill.
Rake EX - Level 1. Skill adds 3 extra shurikens to be thrown, you can either throw them from a distance or right after the 5 shurikens are shot out. Total hit count now becomes 16 hits meaning 16 times the board damage. Skill now becomes dark element.
Punishment EX - The EX makes the defence reduction to 20% and the additional shock wave deals the 30% damage. Skill also turns into a dark element skill.
Crow Ability - Level 1. Your level 65 passive. Adds 10% extra dark attack.

Pure PvE Skill Build
Changes made:
- PvE build is the same as hybrid build.
- Should you want to get Rake to level 16. Remove the 5 SP from Mortal Blow.

Pure PvP Skill Build
Changes made:
- Piercing Star is taken for PvP purposes instead of Fan of Edge. Piercing Star can also be thrown 3 times at level 11. Level 16 for the extra damage.
- MP Mastery is at level 4 to give more MP.
- MP Recovery is at max level for mana purpose.
- Rake is now level 1 as PvP I doubt you can deal a lot of damage as your opponent would usually dodge them.
- Mortal Blow is at level 11 for the 3 times CTC.
- Both 32 skills are at level 13 since there is extra SP.
- I took dual ultimates should you need the mobility. If you do not need the Cripple Punisher just allocate it elsewhere.
- Umbra Field is only level 1 as most of the time you summon it and opponents would leave the AoE of the skill. Not worth pumping the extra SP into it.
